Naples Hotels and Accommodation

(Naples, Campania, Italy)

The capital of Italy's Campania region, the city of Naples has long been a leading tourist destination and is home to a truly enormous number of hotels, with the standard of accommodation ranging from palaces to small B&Bs. Budget lodging is not especially prevalent in Naples, although there are some cheap hotels in the less appealing parts of the city, around the Piazza Garibaldi and on the Mercato Quarter's Via Firenze, Via G Pica and Corso G Garibaldi.

However, most tourists choose accommodation within the 'centro storico' area, amidst the soul and character of Naples itself. Hotels in the centro storico have the advantage of being within walking distance of innumerable attractions. If you prefer to save money by camping, then the camp sites at Pompeii (east) and Pozzuoli (west) are likely to be of interest.

For those looking for accommodation that is a little more upmarket, a good choice of luxury hotels can be found in the tranquil suburbs of Chiaia, Toledo, Santa Lucia and Vomero. Refreshingly, although most hotels in Naples are not what could be described as cheap, they are certainly less expensive than their counterparts in northern Italy.

As with many leading Italian cities, hotel touts are known to gather around Naples train station and should always be avoided. If you haven't booked ahead, then the station's tourist office may be able to assist you in your quest for lodging.
